Our fundraising endeavors are ongoing but it is towards the future that we now look. Over the next two and half years we have developed a vision to lead the building towards its Centenary and a funding plan has been developed to support this. However, this will still require additional support through earned income and ensuring that the Memo returns once again to a lively Venue with shows and engagement opportunities for all.

We’ve registered Newbridge Memo with easyfundraising, which means over 7,000 brands will now donate to us for FREE every time you use easyfundraising to shop with them.

These donations will help SO MUCH, so please sign up to support us – it’s completely FREE and doesn’t take long

Tuesday Night Dance - Case Study

Supported by Caerphilly Cares

Every Tuesday evening, members of the Newbridge and surrounding communities come together to socialise and be active at Tuesday Night Dance. Ballroom and Sequence dance can be participated in, in a relaxed friendly environment in a restored 1920’s ballroom as would have been experienced in days gone by. Members of the community want to utilise this space as it was meant to be used whilst socialising, having gentle exercise and getting back out after a long time of isolation due to COVID-19. Caerphilly Cares have supported this project to ensure low cost accessed can be maintained.

Current attendees have said about the sessions;

  • “Makes you feel happy and relaxed – someone to talk to”

  • “This is a life line for us”

  • “Gets me out of the house (81 years old)”

  • “Instead of sitting at home we’re here being active”

  • “After Covid meeting people dancing is a good social evening, good exercise and getting back out in society. Good for mental health”

Youth Theatre - Case Study

Supported by Comic Relief Community Fund in Wales

In April 2022, local professional Musical Theatre Performer, Liam Goldsworthy approached the Memo to build a partnership to create an accessible and affordable Performing Arts programme for young people from ages 6 - 30 , supporting confidence building and skill-learning.

Since September, following successful taster sessions, we have been delivering our weekly pay-what-you-can sessions for Performing Arts within Newbridge Memo for approximately 30-40 young people between the ages of 6 and 30 with support from Comic Relief Community Fund in Wales.

The confidence of many young people is growing week by week with a showcase planned for May 2023 for the groups to share their new found confidence and learning with their families and friends.

A quote given to us regarding a young person;

‘…struggles with confidence and how to interact with people. I have seen so much progress since joining the drama group – she has even volunteered to do a solo. Amazing!’
